As some of you may know, life happened about the time Hot Enough to Kill came out, and it really happened in 2000 with the loss of my mom the very week that Dead Man Falls was released. I suppose it was one of those mixed blessing things, since if she’d read it she would have probably killed me, although, she did eventually take a fancy to Lucille and thought it would grand to be “more like her.”
